Retail Catering Assistant Vacancies at Battersea Park Children's Zoo

We are looking for fun and energetic people to join our Retail team at Battersea Park Children's Zoo!
Situated in the famous Battersea Park in South London, we are a small, exciting Children's Zoo complete with a range of animals (From the exotic to farm animals) and adventure play area.
You will be part of a small team operating a busy cafe, shop and admissions, as well as undertaking a number of other tasks around the zoo.
We are looking for people who have the following:
- Fun, friendly and energetic personality
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent ability to work under pressure
- Can speak fluent English and have good numerical skills
The working structure includes weekends, bank holidays and school holidays, as well as normal term time. A normal day is usually 9.00am-18.00. This role meets the current national minimum wage.

JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: RETAIL / CATERING ASSISTANT
Scope of Job:
Working in our admissions, shop and cafe. Your main areas of responsibilities will be to provide high quality of service to our guests in a courteous and friendly manner. An ability to operate tills, retail merchandise, display stock. To prepare and serve refreshments whilst maintaining a high standard of cleanliness.
Other Responsibilities Include:
Preparing the Zoo to a high standard in the mornings. This will involve cleaning and tidying areas of the Zoo other than the shop and cafe.
Preparing the shop and cafe ready for trade before the Zoo opens.
Interacting with guests, going the extra mile to ensure they have a great visit to the Zoo.
Delivering information and answering queries to guests
Answering the telephone in a polite, friendly manner whilst dealing with inquiries efficiently and accurately.
Ensure safe and accurate handling of all monies and payments.
Maintain high standards in the shop throughout the day, stocking up and merchandising.
Preparing and serving food and hot drinks in the cafe.
Following the Daily Health and Hygiene workbook, completing information forms and ensuring compliance with health and hygiene laws.
Maintaining high standards in all aspects of the cafe including cleaning, stocking up and displaying stock.
Communicating directly with other staff using radio contact.
Displaying good standards of personal hygiene and ensuring cleanliness of uniform.
Meeting all the daily requirements of closing the Zoo at the end of the day, politely ushering customers to the exit and ensuring an efficient and timely close down of the Zoo.
Responding to Emergencies calmly and efficiently and following company procedure.
Adhering to company’s policies and procedures at all times.
Reporting directly to your line Manager or another Zoo Manager during his/her absence.
