Residential Support Worker in London

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced support worker to work for a rapidly expanding company who specialise in children's services, dedicated to improving the lives of young people who suffer with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
The Role
Working as the sole member of staff on shift in a young person’s semi-independent unit, you will be responsible for the safeguarding of youngsters within the service whilst adhering to current policies and procedures. You must, therefore, be confident and authoritative and have experience working with 16 and 17 years Olds, experience raising teenagers of your own will be looked upon favourably, therefore, this role may suit a mature candidate who is able to command the respect of the young people and ensure suitable behaviour is maintained within the home.
You will also need to develop and maintain relationships with the young people, acting as a mentor and advisor and someone they can trust and rely on as they make the transition into adulthood and full independence from the care system.
Key Duties
* Understanding Rota compiled by manager and ensuring all shifts are covered
* Helping the young persons with key life skills coaching such as paying bills, cleaning, cooking, shopping, time management etc.
* Monitoring care packages for looked after young people.
* Updating residential core assessments, pathway plans and other competent reports as necessary.
* Direct work with young people and their families as part of the family support worker to assess risks, strengths and viability of living in the community.
* Ensure Unit is considered as outstanding/good in the eyes of Local Authorities
* Day to day running of the home ensuring it is kept clean and tidy
* Liaison with a number of complex agencies on behalf of young people, including Border control, Immigration, youth justice, mental health services, housing, education and police amongst others. Only in the event that this is required outside normal working hours and the manager isn’t available.
* Attended team meetings.
* Maintain up-to-date both manual and electronic records and databases.
* Significantly improve the quality of numerous young people's lives by implementing quality care packages, full assessments and planned a move on packages.
The Candidate
This will be a challenging yet rewarding role where you will need to work under pressure and develop great relationships.
Candidates should have:
QCF Children and Young Persons Workforce level 3 or be working towards it
Flexibility to work shifts and have long-term commitment
experience within Social Care a plus but relevant personal experience will be considered
Must have sound knowledge and understanding of current regulations.
Excellent presentation and communication skills.
Have authority and confidence dealing with 13 - 18 year Olds who may have challenging behaviour.
Enhanced DBS check certificate or online
