We are an easy-going family of 4 + dog (a very sweet Whippet), and as both my husband and I work in highly pressured jobs we are looking for a live-in nanny to look after our son of.
8. Our daughter is already doing her gap year having just finished her A-Levels.
We are seeking an energetic, helpful and tidy live in-nanny who can take a leading role in our son’s home learning and development, plus also our dog (a lovely Whippet) starting 4 September. We would like you to feel part of the family if you are so inclined but we also respect your privacy and expect you to respect ours.
You should be someone who our children love being around and who loves being with them, enjoys entertaining and being entertained by them but also knows how to set boundaries and keep our son motivated to do his school work and piano practise. We need someone who has lots of get up and go and doesn’t always need to be told what to do.
You would have your own room and bathroom on the 2nd floor of the house (only you up there, us and kids are on ground and 1st floor). You would share our kitchen (and meals if you like).
Hours would be flexible but approximately 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Typically you would start at 7:30 am - 9am (breakfast and school run) and then 3:30pm - approximately 7pm or earlier. In addition, we would ask you to take about 1-2 hours per day for laundry, errands, some shopping, preparing food and tidying each day. You would also be expected to babysit in the evening up to 2 nights a week (agreed ad hoc).
Typically, you would work between 6-8 hours per day depending on what we agree and approximately 35 hours per week.
We also employ a cleaner twice a week who does the heavy duty cleaning.
During the holidays the hours may be longer although usually our son will attend holiday clubs. We can agree a change in compensation for holiday times depending on how your hours change.
Summary of weekday duties:
• Supervising homework, staying on top of school letters, events and being in touch with school, other parents, or nannies re playdates, planning the week ahead, all in communication and agreement with us.
• Put out breakfast and clear up, prepare school snack, get ready for school/day
• Collecting from school and take to any after school activities/organising play dates
• Walking our dog, putting out breakfast and dinner for the dog
• Keeping our son's bedroom and communal rooms tidy, laundry for the family, boy’s bedding change once every two weeks
• Family dinner (simple, quick and healthy) Monday to Friday, happy for you to have your meal with us if you feel like it
• Occasional shopping for food (usually we get delivery but always good to stock up on fresh fruit and veg when it runs out in between)
• General errands (limited but occasional to the vet, to post office or similar)
• Get our son ready for bed (shower, sometimes toothbrushing, though story time will normally be one of us)
Other bits:
• 4 weeks paid holiday, if possible taken when we take ours or when we are at home
• Non-smoker preferred
• CRB checked or under way; with at least 2 checkable references (1 recent)
• UK resident or able to stay in the UK for at least a year
• £130-£300 per week term time depending on experience
• Good command of English
Starting on 2 September or as soon as possible thereafter.
Because of the hours we work, it would be so helpful if you are genuinely interested in cooking and are happy to cook for the family. We also love cooking so will cook for everyone about once a week, too depending on our work schedule! Our son is a good eater and will happily eat the same things as the whole family.

Please only respond if you are willing to stay at least 12 months if not longer.
