Private Medical Clinic in Kensington
Must be flexible with hours - shifts between Monday-Thursday 0800-2000; Friday 0800-1900 and alternate Saturdays 0830-1600
Job Purpose
The Clinics nurse is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe and effective nursing care to the whole Clinics population, private Patients, individual clinicians and specialists.
As the main Clinics Nurse this role is accountable for nursing service delivery. Responsibility is to work closely with the Registered Manager and GPs/Clinicians to deliver the Clinics priorities.
As an autonomous practitioner, the nurse is responsible for the care delivered, demonstrating critical thinking and skills in clinical decision-making. They will work collaboratively with all TMCK personnel to meet the needs of patients and clinicians on the premises, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures and providing leadership and direction for the nursing and clinical areas within the Clinics.
RESPONSIBILITIES
All tasks should be carried out in accordance with the Clinic’s policies and procedures.
Clinical Clinics:
· Assess, plan, develop, implement and evaluate nursing treatment, requirements for each clinician’s clinics.
· Daily assessment is required and knowledge of clinicians clinic hours, days and individual needs.
· Fitting ECG’s
· To assist the clinician and patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care.
· Maintenance of stock control including ordering of goods, monitoring of vaccinations, supply, demand, fridge temperature monitoring.
· To ensure that there is always sufficient stock.
· To ensure medical consumables and drugs are in date.
· Disposal of out of date consumables and drugs.
· Monitoring of all Clinics drug supplies, safety equipment, O2 cylinders, CPR and resuscitation equipment first aid boxes, Weekly checks and documentation.
· Monitoring of paediatric waiting room and weekly safety checks.
· Monitoring, alongside the cleaner, the cleaning of clinical rooms, trolleys, ENT equipment and x-ray/Ultrasound equipment.
· Meet the needs of patients presenting for wound care, minor surgery.
· Phlebotomy for children and adults, working closely with TDL laboratories.
· Reviewing of blood test results and allocation to appropriate doctor/specialist’s inbox.
· Monitoring and management of the cold chain.
· Infection control monitoring, implementing, auditing, within the Clinics, alongside implemented infection control services.
· Greet all clinicians when they arrive ensuring everything is in order for them.
· Check all consulting rooms are set up correctly.
· Regular Infection Control with staff and recording and monitoring.
· Maintain and oversee Trolley stock and cleanliness.
· Report for work on time.
· Act as a chaperone when required.
· Actively ensure smooth running of Ultrasound patient pathway.
· Perform ECG’s
· Perform Non-Invasive-Prenatal-Tests
· Assist clinicians during minor procedures and ensure all paperwork is completed.
· Ordering medical consumables on behalf of clinicians.
· Carry out and review regular Emergency drills with all staff and record.
· Update all annual training required.
· To ensure all TMCK personnel is trained according to their training needs.
COMMUNICATION:
· Liaise with respective clinicians each day, ensuring they know you are on duty.
· Demonstrate sensitive communication styles to ensure patients are fully informed and consent to treatment, where appropriate.
· Communicate effectively with clinicians, patients and carers, recognising the need for alternative methods of communication to overcome different levels of understanding, cultural background and preferred ways of communicating.
· Anticipate barriers to communication and take action to improve communication.
· Act as an advocate when representing patients and colleagues.
· Participate in Clinics personnel meetings, delivering the nursing agenda.
