We have a busy family with 4 children (G13, B12, B10, B7) and we are looking for extra occasional help on weekends, school holidays and occasionally during the week. We live in Putney SW15 5 QN
We also have a dog and a cat.
The main focus of this position is to assist our sweet and cheeky 10-year old son. He has Cerebral Palsy and needs help with all aspects of life : feeding, toileting, getting around in his wheelchair, communicating (he's non verbal but has lots of ways of "talking"), doing homework and therapy, socialising and playing.
Hours: Flexible. We have two regular carers so this role is to provide additional help for their holiday cover or to babysit when they are not available. To begin with we would arrange a few hours shadowing one of the carers to get to grips with the role. There is also scope to go on holiday with the family.
Salary - 11-13/hr depending on experience
Requirements: solid childcare experience with references. Common sense and a sense of humour. Good spoken and written English. Live locally. Special needs experience not required but an interest helps; we will train up the right candidate. This role has in the past been a good fit for childcare and teaching students, or training/newly qualified therapists. Must have strong back and be prepared to do heavy lifting.
Start date: as soon as possible
It takes awhile to get up to speed with the job so I like to find people who are planning to hang around for at least a year. It's not for everyone but for the right person it's a very fulfilling and enjoyable role.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks,
Tamara.
