An enthusiastic and experienced chef is required to manage a small close-knit team in an independent preparatory school in North Kensington.
The successful candidate must have a genuine interest in wholesome, home-cooked style food which will appeal to young children. Applicants must have had some experience of cooking in a team and be able to take overall responsibility.
The commercial kitchen has been awarded by the local authority EHO a five star hygiene rating, which must be maintained. He/she will be very familiar with all food safety legislation and will have been trained to food hygiene certification at Level 2, which ideally should still be current. He/she will be prepared to share skills and experience with the team.
The hours for the chef will be by negotiation but are likely to be from 7.30am– 2.30pm, Mondays to Fridays in term time. This equates to approximately 180 working days in the year.
The annual full-time equivalent salary rate will be dependent upon skills and experience and will be both competitive and attractive. The actual salary will reflect the actual hours worked, being approximately 75% of the hours worked in a normal year-round commercial environment.
The job may be of particular interest to a suitably qualified chef who, as a parent, wishes to keep his or her evenings, and much of the school holidays, free.
Good spoken English is a requirement and communication skills will be assessed at interview.
