This role sits within our Parliamentary Maintenance Team which serves both the Commons  and Lords carrying out planned and reactive maintenance requests and maintenance projects on the Parliamentary Estate. The team carry out a range of challenging, varied and diverse tasks within the Palace of Westminster and other Parliamentary offices, working to maintain buildings, engineering systems and furnishings to ensure the estate is a fully-functioning, safe working environment.

The team are seeking an apprentice to support our current Plumbers with planning, selecting, installing, servicing and maintaining all aspects of plumbing and heating systems. The installation of plumbing and heating systems includes accurate measuring, marking, cutting, bending and jointing metallic and non-metallic pipework. By the end of this apprenticeship the candidate will have satisfied the requirements for registration as Eng Tech by the Engineering Council through The Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE) and or The Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE).

The ideal candidate for this role would have an interest in understanding the working of the mechanical and electrical services. They will need to be an effective communicator and show a good understanding of excellent customer service. To apply, candidates must hold GCSEs in English and Maths at grades A-D or equivalent, or be willing to work towards this during their apprenticeship.

You will be asked to complete a short application form outlining why you are suitable for the role based on the criteria set out below. We will conduct a sift based on the information you provide and successful candidates will be invited to attend a Preparation Workshop on the 19 October 2022 to ensure you have all the information you need to complete a competency based interview, which will be held week commencing 22nd October 2022.
