We are looking for a Physiotherapy / In Class Assistant for our 8 year old son who has diplegia resulting from premature birth. He has no language or cognitive impairment and currently attends a Private Prep school in Clapham, SW London.
The job is to act as our sons in class help, from a mobility, accessibility, integration and safety perspective, using your professional skills to facilitate and encourage his overall development throughout the day. You will be supervised by his current NHS OT and PT on a termly basis, as well as his private PT on a weekly basis and the school's Special Educational Needs Co-Coordinator. This affords opportunity for Multi disciplinary working and provides you the opportunity for learning and skills development in line with HCPC standards of proficiency.
You will be responsible for the safe and effective use of his seating and mobility equipment (Kaye walker and quad Canes), and for implementing his OT and PT programme on a daily basis. You will use your professional knowledge to promote maximal integration with all school activities. You will be required to escort him to his Therapy sessions which take place off the school premises in two separate clinics, accompany and participate with his hydrotherapy and medical appointments.
For anyone hoping to extend their Physiotherapy experience or Paediatric experience, this job offers a wealth of learning opportunities.
You will be jointly employed by the School and ourselves and will be subject to the schools terms and conditions of employment.
We are looking for a qualified PT, who does not need to be HCPC registered, since you will work under supervision. Ideally you will have some paediatric experience, whilst knowledge of Bobath is an advantage, but is not essential.
The salary is 22K per annum with hours of work being 8.00am to 6.00pm Monday - Friday. This is essentially term time only, so the holiday entitlement is exceptionally attractive and would work well for anyone with school age kids. The school year consists of 3 school terms and holidays are normally two weeks at Christmas and Easter, a week at each half term and 6 weeks over the summer.
Applications are invited from individuals with a Physiotherapy or equivalent qualification, who speak fluent English and who have the relevant work visas to undertake employment in the UK. You must be able to commit to at least one full school year - Sept - July. CRB is desirable but not essential as one will be undertaken prior to starting the job. References essential.
Driving licence preferred and a car will be available to use on the job for the successful applicant if they hold a relevant driving licence
Professional, reliable, innovative, fun, caring, flexible, positive and motivated individuals only please.
Please DO NOT apply unless you can fulfil the stated criteria.
