We are looking for a Physiotherapy / In Class Assistant for our 9 year old son who has diplegia resulting from premature birth. He has no language or cognitive impairment and currently attends a Private Prep school in Clapham, SW London.
The job is to act as our sons in class help, from a mobility, accessibility, integration and safety perspective, using your professional skills to facilitate and encourage his overall development throughout the day.
You will be supervised by his current NHS, OT and PT on a termly basis, as well as his private PT on a weekly basis and the school's Special Educational Needs Co-Coordinator. This affords the opportunity for Multi disciplinary working and provides you the opportunity for learning and skills development in line with HCPC standards of proficiency.
You will be responsible for the safe and effective use of his seating and mobility equipment (Kaye walker and quad Canes), and for implementing his OT and PT programme on a daily basis. You will use your professional knowledge to promote maximal integration with all school activities. You will be required to escort him to his Therapy sessions, which take place off the school premises in two separate clinics, accompany and participate in his hydrotherapy. You will be required to escort him on any off site school trips and activities.
For anyone hoping to extend their Physiotherapy experience or Paediatric experience, this job offers a wealth of learning opportunities.
You will be jointly employed by the School and us and will be subject to the schools terms and conditions of employment.
We are looking for a qualified PT or equivalent, who does not need to be HCPC registered, since you will work under supervision. Ideally, you will have some paediatric experience whilst knowledge of Bobath is an advantage, but is not essential.
The salary is 22K per annum with hours of work being 8.00am to 5.30pm Monday – Friday during term time. You are entitled to a minimum of 6 weeks annual holiday, with opportunity for additional time during school holidays in agreement with ourselves.
Applications are invited from individuals with a Physiotherapy or equivalent qualification, who speak fluent English and who have the relevant work visas to undertake employment in the UK. You must be able to commit to at least one full school year - Sept - July. CRB is desirable but not essential, as one will be undertaken prior to starting the job. References essential. This job will start Monday 3rd September 2022
Driving license preferred and a car will be available to use on the job for the successful applicant if they hold a relevant driving license.
Professional, reliable, innovative, fun, caring and motivated individuals only please.
Please DO NOT apply unless you can fulfill the stated criteria.
