The Role
Petersham Nurseries is looking for a Deli Assistant who is passionate about Deli artisan products and want to join our Covent Garden team. Some previous experience as Deli Associate is desirable, but training will be given by the Deli Manager. This role will suit a candidate who is passionate about selling our exquisite products while interacting with customer, providing a memorable customer service experience.
You will be responsible for preparing sandwiches with the finest deli products from the counter. An assortment of salads and soups, sweet and Savory pastries, antipasti, cheeses, charcuterie, fresh pasta, and sauces made daily on site with organic ingredients are some of the products that you will work with on a daily base. In addition to wrapping, weighing, pricing, and helping to keep the merchandising standards of the department at the highest level, at all times. Cross training as Barista will be also provided base on business needs. The successful Deli Associate must enjoy been part of a culture of passion and enthusiasm for the preparation and service of food, who is motivated and lead by example.

Key responsibilities
·Assist the Deli Manager and Supervisors with the daily maintenance of the Deli. This includes setting up the Deli before opening, maintaining cleaning standards throughout the day, exceeding customer expectations, keep healthy merchandising levels at all times, following closing up process.
·Maintain the highest standards of food freshness and quality by daily checks and be-fore service, ensuring that all legal requirements are met. Including but not limited to, temperature checks, cleaning schedules and food safety procedures.
·Alert Managers or Supervisor about food quality issue as soon as it is noticed.
·Following stock rotation procedures.
·Perform other duties as assigned by the manager in charge.
