Personal Care Assistant

To enable a young woman with a physical disability to live independently at home. Your job would be to assist the young woman with tasks such as getting up and dressed, personal care and going to bed. Your main role will be to assist the young woman with personal care while out socially. Flexibility to hours and an easy-going approach are essential in this post. Job offer subject to satisfactory DBS and references.
The post is a live-out position and is week on, week off. The job is based in Harrow and would be ideal for someone who also lives in Harrow or the surrounding areas.

Job description
Hours: 60 hours over a four-week period – week on, week off (2 weeks). You will be required to work some unsociable hours.
Driver preferred but not essential.
Purpose of job: To enable a woman with a physical disability to live independently at home. Job offer is subject to a satisfactory DBS and references.
Main responsibilities:

To assist with:
Getting up
Going to bed
Washing
Dressing
Hair care
Oral hygiene
Toileting
Preparing meals
Feeding
Assisting around the home
Using everyday items, for example, turning the TV on/off.
Manual handling (lifting) – must be physically strong to be able to do this.
To travel and assist in all the normal care duties on occasions, when required.
To maintain client confidentiality
To understand working boundaries, even when in a social setting.
Any other reasonable duties at the employers instruction.

An example shift pattern could be (but these will vary month to month and not always involve an over-night):
Week 1:
Monday have off
Tuesday 3-10pm
Wednesday have off
Thursday 3-10pm
Friday 3-10pm
Saturday 12noon-5pm
Week 2: Week off
Week 3:
Monday 3-10pm
Tuesday 3-7pm
Wednesday have off
Thursday have off
Friday 3pm - Saturday 8pm (a 24-hour shift is paid at 18 hours when you are not 'on-call' over-night)
Week 4: Week off
You must have the right to work in the UK and a UK bank account. Payment is every four weeks.
