Busy 28 year old male with learning and communication difficulties is seeking someone with energy and a positive sense of humour to join a small dynamic team.
You will be provided with appropriate training as necessary, however you will need proven ability of being able to provide support and assistance with the following: -
- Mobility needs: assistance on journeys including all forms of public and (as appropriate) private transport, including travel abroad.
- Communication needs: mostly use of non-verbal communication, ‘Makaton’ signing, pictorial symbols and a facilitated communication aid (specific training provided)
- Personal/Self care needs: minimal assistance with personal hygiene, dressing and support e.g. Re privacy when using public toilets etc.
- Diet: Support with food selection and preparation
- Social/leisure needs: participation in activities of personal interest and discovering new activities e.g. Of shared interest
- Learning needs: some support in learning settings e.g. College (not necessarily to learning assistant level)
- Other reasonable household duties related to individuals needs
Terms and conditions:
• PAY: £10.50 – £15 ph (PA’s) £12 – £15 ph (Admin).
During the 6 week induction period pay is £10 ph. Pay increases to £10.50 or £12 after successfully completing first 6 weeks. Subsequent increases happen as part of ongoing appraisal. Higher starting hourly rate may be negotiated depending on knowledge and abilities.
• Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks will be carried out.
• Preferably you will live in Lambeth or surrounding Boroughs or can easily travel to Brixton hill.
• Minimum of 10 hours a week over 2 or more days – Hours are flexible and can increase up to 20 hours a week
• Specific and ongoing training, guidance and external supervision is provided, with particular focus on any needs you may have in making inclusion happen and developing relationships with individual who is being assisted, his family, community and other contacts.
• Following reference checks, successful applicant will be able to begin a trial period immediately
