People needed to provide personal and social support to a disabled man while pursuing a full and active life as a researcher at University.

The work will involve providing all aspects of care to the employer including dressing, washing, helping with toilet, lifting and moving, cooking and feeding, etc. The work will involve providing constant support in all aspects of life including at work, domestic activities e.g. Shopping and general socialising.

The work times will vary and so flexibility is required, but on average times will be 8 AM - 6 PM. Times will be arranged to suit. The work will involve working days, 2-3 days per week.

£9 Per hour.

The work may suit people who enjoy being in an academic setting. The job will suit an enthusiastic, interested and helpful person, and may be particularly suitable for undergraduates at the end of their degrees who want to stay in Reading, or 1st/2nd year undergraduates after part-time work. It would also be ideal for postgraduate research students. Applicants MUST be fluent in English, and MUST be eligible to work in the UK (i.e. Have a British National Insurance (NI) number). Drivers are essential, but previous experience in care work is not required.

Note: On that last point… This is not like any other 'care' job. It cannot be compared to working in a care home or any other similar institution. The person(s) selected will not be 'caring' or 'looking after' the man, but rather being a pair of hands for him and carrying out his precise instructions. Therefore, whilst experience in care work MAY be beneficial, it can also be a hindrance - applicants, if they have previous experience, should come with a completely open mind.
