Tate Catering aims to be the best gallery catering facility in the world with a strong commitment to quality, service and sustainability in the food and drink we serve.
In our Pastry production kitchen we strive in every way to deliver top quality products with consistency. We produce a range of desserts from the classics to injecting modern twists on some of our existing products. We make everything from breakfast ranges, cakes, grab and go, Petit fours, slices, cookies and plated desserts for restaurants and events, as well as having recently launched our own handmade chocolates.
We have a great opportunity for a Senior Sous Chef to join Tate Modern's busy Pastry kitchen. We are looking for a chef who is self-motivated and can be left to manage the daily running of the kitchen from time to time and is confident in all areas of the kitchen. A broad set of skills is needed to help run a fantastic kitchen which is brimming with ideas and new projects. You must be passionate about pastry and a great team builder.
The Senior Sous Chef will work closely with the Pastry Head Chef, assuming administrative duties (payroll, Health and Safety etc.)
We require a Senior Sous Chef with a broad set of skills, who:
* Has gained significant experience in a busy restaurant and/or production pastry kitchen
* Has great team building and people management skills, with a proven ability to manage and motivate a team of chefs on the Head Chef's behalf
* Is able to work flexible shifts for 5 days a week including weekends, early mornings and the odd evening
* Is very knowledgeable about food and appreciates the importance of both food hygiene and health and safety
* Exhibits a professional and positive manner at all times
* Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Has experience of managing costs, with previous responsibility for ordering, stocktaking and wages
* Has competence and confidence with computers
If you have flair and knowledge of food, especially all things sweet, as well as strong people management skills and experience, then we'd love to hear from you. We offer great benefits including a paid lunch meal, discounts in our shops and cafés, Employee Assistance Program, and free entry to exhibitions.
