We are currently recruiting for Pastry Demi Chefs for the Tate Modern Pastry Kitchen on a permanent contract. We aim to be the best gallery catering facility in the world with a strong commitment to quality, service and sustainability in the food and drink we serve. The successful candidates should share this passion.
We are a production kitchen that makes all the cakes, slices, plated desserts, afternoon tea and various other products from scratch, which are then distributed to our many outlets in Tate Modern and Tate Britain.
The role requires you to be flexible with your duties so you must have the ability to work in various parts of the business. You will be required to work flexible hours, mostly straight day shifts for up to 5 days a week including weekends and some evenings.
Our perfect candidates will demonstrate the following:
* Previous experience in a busy restaurant, patisserie or hotel kitchen as a Demi chef or responsible Commis
* Good knowledge of food and an enthusiasm to keep learning, especially about pastries
* A proven ability to work within a team, and happy to work on different sections
* A professional, positive manner and a flexible approach to helping where needed and providing support in the kitchen
* Fuss-free provision of food work in a timely manner, to a consistently high standard, whilst minimising waste
* Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
* Adherence to all health and hygiene regulations and policies
