Parenting Support Practitioner (Level 3) (Hourly rate £18) (East London)Here at Corus, we have an exciting role for an enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with children and parents, we are recruiting for a Parenting Support Practitioner for one of our clients in East London. This is a 3 month contract position with an immediate start. This role will be to mitigate Children and Young People entering the care systems. What we require from you? * Have knowledge and understanding of child development and welfare. * Have knowledge and understanding of risk to children, including the concept of 'significant harm.' * Awareness and understanding of the principles of equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice. * Awareness and understanding of legislation and guidance, including Children Act 1989, Every Child Matters, London Child Protection Procedures. * Familiarity with the methods and techniques, such as systemic practice, social learning theory, Webster Stratton Incredible Years, motivational interviewing, that guide the work of the Family Support Service. * Have experience of direct work with children and/or families, and the ability to undertake direct work independently and in a range of settings. * To be able to provide practical help to families - to undertake tasks in partnership with parents, to give advice, model and demonstrate in a way that encourages and empowers parents. * To be able to respond to dangerous or inappropriate behaviour, to recognise and to report risk to children. * To be able to work collaboratively with colleagues from a range of agencies providing services to families. * To be able to identify and access appropriate resources, and to link families to resources in the community. * To be able to observe actions and behaviours and to report on them. * To be able to work in a flexible manner and at varied hours when required You must have: * NVQ Level 3 Child Care or equivalent by experience * Preferably a professional qualification.
