How The Ned Happened
Taking over the City’s disused Midland Bank Building, Soho House and Co. And New York’s Sydell Group have collaborated to restore the beautiful Grade I listed building. Hosting 9 restaurants, bars, a member’s club, Barber and Parlour, Ned’s Club Active and Relax, two swimming pools, along with six dedicated event spaces.
The Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced and reliable Painter Decorator/Handyman to support the Engineering team at The Ned. The role includes painting and decorating and also includes being part of the Planned preventative maintenance programme for our bedrooms and other areas of the hotel.
Main Responsibilities:
• To carry out internal and external painting and decorating requirements
• To carry out plastering to walls to make good ready for decoration
• Minor repairs to surfaces and structures prior to decorating/painting
• Undertake minor repair works and general maintenance activities
• Have basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry and repair skills
• To undertake the rooms repair programme and other duties
• To use all relevant tools and equipment within safety guidelines as necessary for the completion of works. Erecting of access equipment as required, with appropriate training and competency
• Erection of all necessary access plant and temporary screening as and when required to protect the environment and people, all in accordance with current Health and Safety guidance
• Carry out planned programme of painting and redecoration in accordance within the Hotel work plan
• Use all relevant tools and equipment within safety guidelines as necessary for the completion of works
To undertake work in relation to:
• All types of wall papering
• Dry lining damaged walls
• Plasterwork repairs
• General repairs
• Replacing damaged floor tiles, silicon, mastic and grouting works
• Replacing damaged ceiling tiles
• Fit new plasterboard and plaster
• Basic electrics, plumbing, carpentry
• To prepare the area ready for decoration including the moving of heavy equipment i.e. Fridges, filing cabinets, tables etc.
