We are looking for healthy, non-smoking males, 18 - 35 years of age, who are not receiving any medication for blood pressure to take part in a study to investigate how the type of beetroot-containing food affects blood vessel function.
Beetroot is a rich source of dietary nitrate. Dietary nitrate has been shown to lower blood pressure, increase blood vessel dilation and improve exercise performance. However, whether the way in which beetroot is incorporated into the diet affects its function on blood vessels has not been fully investigated.
Your role:
-Attend a brief screening session (30minutes) - for height/weight/blood pressure measure
-Attend 3 study days - consume a test meal of sandwiches and drink, measuring blood pressure and arterial stiffness
