Web developer with focus on Wordpress
We are a digital marketing company based in London with focus on web design, video production, 360 and VR, app development, SEO, social media and branding. Many of our clients are premium brands, celebrities and sport stars including the number 1 star in British sport. We are currently looking for a web developer with strong Wordpress skills to join our team. We have several projects you will start working on immediately as well fixing bugs.
We want you to start full time for one month to make sure you fit into the team. I you are a great fit we want you to stay on for all our future exciting projects.
Job duties
The day-to-day work of a web developer will include:
writing code and configuring frameworks and e-commerce platforms;
planning and prototyping new websites and applications;
testing sites and applications in different browsers and environments;
be available for quick problem solving when needed;
advice on technology to be used for new projects;
setup and send newsletters using Mailchimp;
fixing bugs in existing projects;
performe code reviews;
attend project progress update meetings with the project team;
liaise with other members in the project team, such as graphic designers and UX designers.
building and maintaining databases; and
documenting code so other developers can understand and contribute to it.
experience required
Proven experience in the setup and maintenance of frameworks such as Wordpress.
Proven experience in the setup and maintenance of e-commerce platforms such as Woocommerce and Shopify.
Strong understanding of UI, cross-browser compatibility, optimization, general web functions and standards.
Proven working experience in web programming with standards such as modern HTML/CSS, PHP and JavaScript.
Strong understanding of hosting setup and how to improve the website by using caching, cloudflare etc.
A solid understanding of how web applications work including e-commerce security, session management, and best development practices.
Magento experience would be a Bonus
experience from customising and sending newsletter using Mailchimp.
Adequate knowledge of relational database systems.
Basic knowledge of Search Engine Optimisation process.
experience from Magento is desirable but not essential.
Aggressive problem diagnosis and creative problem solving skills.
Strong organisational skills to juggle multiple tasks within the constraints of timelines and budget.
A strong team player who feel passionately about his/her contribution to the team and delivers on his/her promises.
You must be able to communicate fluently in English and we expect you to speak up when you want to give a suggestion or there is something you don’t agree with.
Since you work with us full time we expect you not to take on other work during core working hours that can interfere with your work at Gobi Digital.
