Oxfam High St Kensington Needs Volunteers

Posted: 40 days ago
Place: Central London, London

Please note; this is a volunteer role (unpaid)
Our shop on High St Kensington needs you!
Do you have a few hours a week to spare to help support an international charity dedicated to ending poverty and inequality? We'd love to meet you!
We have a large shop on Kensington High St, a high volume of donations and we are incredibly busy - the whole time! If you want to really feel your time given is being well used - we are a great choice!
It could be that you're looking to build skills for your CV - in our shop you can learn customer service, recruitment, training and mentoring, finance/ admin, sales and merchandising as well as all aspects of running a successful retail business. We will help you build your CV with the skills you’d like and will train you in all aspects of running the shop – we even run internship programs, can offer NVQs or training as a voluntary assistant manager, or fixed term project based volunteering opportunities. It’s a great way to demonstrate your leadership skills, provide tangible examples of what you can do for future employers and grow your own confidence and experience.
Or maybe you're looking to develop your confidence, improve your language skills, get back into work after a period away or simply make new friends. We have friendly and diverse team who will give you a warm welcome, a great working atmosphere and a full biscuit tin.
If you’re more comfortable helping out in the stock room we will gladly fill any free hours you can offer us, we need organised people to help out with backroom systems and keeping us tidy, as well as people keen to sort through and price donations. If you’re more at ease on the till, then we have several shifts where we’d love your support on the shop floor – we want you to enjoy working here as much as we do, so we’ll be led by you!
We welcome all - if you simply want to pop in and help out for a couple of hours a week, that's a huge help to us - equally if you want to learn all aspects of running the shop, gain management skills and be trained as a volunteer assistant manager - we can offer internships and full training and support.
Email your details and we will contact you to arrange an informal chat!
