The Sherriff Centre at St James Church is looking for a full time Operations Coordinator with a background and skills in hospitality to join our team.

About Us:
The Sherriff centre is a unique and innovative social enterprise which runs a café, post office, children’s soft play and gift shop and is based in an operational church. We operate as a business but our profits fund the work of our charity which runs a free debt advice service.
Overview of the role:
This is a hands on role where 20% of your hours will be spent within the café, managing staff, leading on customer service and ensuring compliance on all food hygiene procedures. The remaining hours will be predominantly office based dealing with all admin relating to the operational elements of the centre.
General:
To be responsible for the upkeep of the building in terms of its security, repairs , health and safety and ensuring the centre is ready for business at all times.
Undertake all administration relevant to the role; responding to emails and telephone enquiries.
Oversee and ensure adequate staffing and rotas are in place for the café, Hullabaloo and our cleaners.
Carry out staff inductions, training and work reviews.
Assist staff and the Centre Manager with daily finances, to include paying invoices, daily cash-up of tills, petty cash and weekly banking.
Develop and manage our daily social media accounts and produce other publicity as required.
Cover shifts where necessary in the case of absence/lunch breaks, and to manage the centre in the absence of the centre manager.
Work collaboratively with the Centre Manager to plan events, maximize profits and promote and develop the overall service of The Sherriff Centre.
Be professional at all times, ensure the swift handling of customer complaints and feedback.
Specific responsibilities:
The Sanctuary Café
Overall responsibility for the smooth running and efficient operation of The Sanctuary Café, working part time in the café itself, dealing with issues should they arise, planning menus, stock and waste management, training and staff supervisions.
Ensuring that at all times the café space is safe and in compliance with safe food handling legislation, policies and procedures.
Parties and Events
Overall responsibility for the smooth running of the Hullabaloo soft play and weekend parties.
Liaising with Hullabaloo staff, weekend party hosts and supervisors to ensure parties are booked efficiently, run smoothly and the room is set-up and packed away appropriately.
Person Specification
Essential;
Minimum 3 years’ experience of management in the hospitality or catering sector, with relevant food hygiene certificates/training.
Excellent food preparation skills, and proven ability to cook/create delicious food.
experience in menu planning and design, including catering for different dietary requirements and incorporating seasonality of food.
Proven experience in delivering customer service to excellent standards and results.
A flexible approach to work and collaborating with the other commercial elements with.

experience managing budgets, stock control and waste management.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and social media platforms.
Ability to organise, plan and manage tasks and events.
Ability to effectively prioritise and manage a varied workload, working under pressure.
experience of working effectively as part of a team, leading and supervising staff.
Professional, mature attitude, able to develop strong working relationships with customers and staff.
To be willing and able to assist in the setting up and clearing away of equipment and furniture.
