The Villa would like to recruit a full time Mealtime Assistant to work with the 3-4 year old age group.
Please note: This position is full time (42 hours a week) and the nursery is open 51 weeks of the year. CVs on their own will not be accepted, please get in touch for an application form.
Scope of Position
• To work as a member of the nursery team to ensure that all health and safety regulations are met and all children’s dietary needs are complied with.
• Ensure that all children attending the setting receive high quality care and are kept safe.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide high standards of quality within the nursery including the environment, resources and experiences offered to children.
• Ensure that the nutritional needs of the children are met and that Food Safety Regulations are complied with, particularly for children with allergies (some of which are life threatening).
• Work well as part of a team to continuously improve the quality of childcare and health and safety.
• Ensure that children are kept safe and when necessary follow Child Protection Procedures.
• Develop and maintain highly professional relationships with Form Teachers, colleagues, kitchen staff and other staff.
• Ensure that the room is promptly set up for lunch and snack times and cleaned up afterward.
• Ensure the correct utensils specific to the class are used as well as maintained.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with the children.
• Follow the lead and collaborate with Form Teachers and line management in implementing procedures and change.
• Ensure consumables are replenished within the room.
• Maintain a tidy and organised work area and class.
• Be actively involved in interacting and supervision of children in the setting.
Health and Safety
• Undertake a primary responsibility for health, safety and cleanliness in the class.
• Ensure the general cleanliness of children.
• Adhere to health and safety policies and procedures, to manage risk and ensure that any remedial action is taken immediately.
• Be fully aware of all emergency and security procedures e.g. Fire precautions, security and collection of children.
• Operate the highest standard of hygiene and cleanliness.
Operational
• Positively promote the nursery to current parents and potential customers.
• Support the manager and staff during inspections by regulatory bodies and to assist in the implementation of any recommendations.
• Undertake a shared responsibility and work in partnership with the team to evaluate and improve standards.
Staff
• Establish a positive relationship and work as a team with other staff members.
• Be responsible for participating in all self-development activities including appraisals, supervision etc.
Communication
• Developing positive and professional relationships with staff, parents and carers.
• Respect confidentiality within the setting.
General
• Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by line management.
• Attend staff meetings as required.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
• Ensure the company’s policies on diversity and equal opportunities are adhered to.
