Job Description – Kitchen Assistant
Job Title: Nursery Kitchen Assistant
Hours: 12pm-3pm Monday to Friday
Location: Nurture SW20, Raynes Park
Responsible To: Nursery Manager / Deputy Manager/ Nursery Chef.
Main Purpose:
To assist the chef to prepare freshly cooked meals for the children in our care and to follow safe and hygienic practice. You will also be assisting in washing the pots pans and plates/bowls and cutlery from lunch and snack.
Main Duties and Role:
To prepare and chop ingredients for set meals including a dessert for the nursery staff to serve to children in our care.
To adhere to the ‘Safer food better business’ standards.
Collecting and cleaning the crockery, pots, pans and cutlery using the nursery dishwasher.
Reporting equipment, maintenance problems to the chef.
To adhere strictly to Food Hygiene Regulations and other safety procedures at all times.
To adhere strictly to the following safety rules.
On a daily basis the kitchen assistant should assistant the chef in day to day roles in the kitchen.
Person Specification - experience and Skills Required:
Essential:
Food Hygiene Certificate
Health and Safety Requirements
Ability to communicate with staff
experience in a commercial kitchen
Maintain equipment and ensure a tidy environment.
Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
Ability to work to a budget
To have basic literacy skills
Desirable:
Ability to handle situations calmly
Ability to use initiative
To be self-motivated
Willingness to undertake training as necessary.
The Offer:
Role will be based in Raynes Park, 5 minutes’ walk from Raynes Park Mainline.
