Driver required? No
Essential experience: Working with children with physical disabilities.
Desired experience: Suctioning, PEG feeding, using a hoist (training provided)
Start Date: as soon as possible
Days and Hours: Monday to Friday 7.30am to 4.30pm. More hours available during school holidays.

Josh, 6, is a happy and outgoing young chap who loves getting out and about on day trips with his family, as well as having more relaxing story-time moments in his home. Josh has dystonic cerebral palsy; he is non-verbal, has his medication administered via PEG and uses a hoist. We are looking for a dedicated support worker to work with Josh during the school day.
The position will involve supporting Josh at home in the morning and taking him to school on school transport. You will support him throughout the day with his personal care needs, following guidelines outlined by Josh’s parents, work in partnership with and support them to promote Josh’s independence. All aspects of Josh’s medication will be undertaken by the support worker, including administration via PEG, suctioning, keeping records and reporting any concerns to the family. At the end of the school day you will accompany Josh home and hand over to the evening support worker.
This role would suit confident, energetic and positive support worker who has experience working with young children with physical disabilities. Ideally you will have experience of Peg feeding and suctioning, but full training is provided by the family.
