Modern Family Needs Live in London

Posted: Today
Place: Richmond, London

Dear Potential Candidate,
We’re a friendly and active two-household family based in Southwest London looking for an au pair to help with our clever and sweet seven year-old daughter, L. Mom and Dad maintain separate homes but co-parent L. We’re looking for someone who wants to become part of our modern family for 12 months or more. The role will be live-in.
Here’s the job:
- Drop-offs and pick-ups for school - starts at 8:30AM and ends at 3:30PM.
- Keep L’s life organized. This includes making sure uniforms ready for school, Mom and Dad know about homework, arranging playdates and getting her to after-school clubs. Help with dinner/snacks as needed.
- L’s Mom or Dad will be home by 7PM. You’re off-duty after that unless arranged otherwise with you ahead of time.
Here’s how it would work:
- You would live at Mom’s house full-time. You’ll have your own bedroom and plenty of space and all the things you need to make it as comfortable as possible.
- L splits her time living at Mom and Dad’s house. She lives with Mom one week and Dad the following week.
- Mom lives near the school in Putney; Dad lives down the road in Sheen.
- The weeks that L is living with her Dad, you will need to go to her Dad’s in the morning and pick her up and drop her off at school. Dad lives 30 minutes by bus away from Mom and the school. Your travel costs will be covered as part of the role.
Here’s why this may sound complicated but could actually be the ideal Au Pair role for you:
- When L spends the week with her Dad, you are done for the evening after he gets home. Remember, you live at Mom’s house so you’re on your own when she is.
- L is spends most of her day in school! You can do what you like during that time!
- You’ll have your weekends free unless we’ve made arrangements for paid babysitting with you.
- You will not have any other responsibilities in terms of looking after the house. Mom has a housekeeper and Mom’s house will be your residence.
- Your total hours during the week would not exceed 25.
What we’re looking for from you:
- Solid references including a recent DBS and police check. Must be legally allowed to live and work in the UK.
- You’re tidy, reliable and honest. You’re also outgoing (we're outgoing! Mom is American and Dad is a Brit). You have a sincere interest in children and great attitude.
- You speak English well.
- You’re extremely organized – being part of our modern family’s living arrangement requires someone who can keep things straight.
- Confidence that you can work with the two-household situation. We do it all the time so think it’s pretty straightforward but you need to be happy it will work for you. Perhaps you even grew up in a similar situation!
If you are interested, please respond by email. While your CV would be great, we'd also be interested in learning a little about you and will contact you for an interview if we think it might be a match.
