We want to recruit an experienced metal cladding fitter who is able to work to a very high quality of finish and with great care to adjoining surfaces and finishes. Welding experience is advantageous. The work is initially for a 2-month contact, with potential to continue for the right candidate.
The job will require measurement, final site scribing, cutting/trimming and fitting pre-cut, pressed and patinated brass flashings (pressed from 2mm thick metal sheet) to bespoke lengths, including mostly 3mm butt joints and some mitres. Some drilling and tapping and some resin and/or other invisible fixings.
The ideal candidate will also be skilled in stainless steel fabrication and welding to include accurate cutting of stainless steel structural sections, plate and thin sheet material (minimum of 1.2mm thickness) to given dimensions using 115mm or 230mm angle grinder. Welding these sections together (flashings, gutters etc) in Situ - mainly downhand or vertical up fillet, butt and outside corner welds – to a high standard.
All work to take place on client sites throughout central London or in our Surrey workshop. The candidate needs to successfully self-manage their time and make fixed deadlines. Own tools required. Usually working as part of a team of two or occasionally three.
Shortlisted applicants will need to attend an interview and undertake a practical test to demonstrate competence in cutting and (where relevant) welding a 1.5mm folded stainless steel flashing.
