Summary
PIAF is a platform for galleries, collectives and art initiatives held during London’s busiest art week of the year that will host more than 15 international galleries at Copeland Park, an industrial unit in the creative quarter of Peckham in south London.
PIAF's internship programme offers students, recent graduates, artists and researchers within the field of the visual arts an exciting opportunity to become involved with the events and exhibition programme of the fair.
This voluntary internship opportunity will provide you with experience across a wide range of skills and disciplines.
Candidates will have the opportunity to learn and increase exposure in communication, outreach, exhibition and event planning.
The candidate should have an existing base in these areas and wish to pursue a career around these professions. Applicants should be creative, enthusiastic and conceptual thinkers. We are pleased to offer serious learning opportunities for undergraduate, postgraduate and those in-between as well as those with successful experience in this or other complementary sectors who see their future in the arts and museum world and want to gain valuable practical experience.
Location: Unit 2, Palm Court, Alpine Road, London NW9 9BQ, UK
Hours: Minimum of two days a week

Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. The main purpose of this position is to support the fair with all aspects concerning communications, events and outreach.
2. Work proactively on communication through our website, instagram, facebook and twitter.
3. Assists the Fair Director and Coordinator in all aspects of fair organisation including development of checklists, legal agreements, insurance, coordinating with galleries and documentation (photographic, text and video).
4. Constant contact with galleries about PR and campaigning.
5. Handle requests for images and track press for the artist gallery profiles and social media.
6. Distribution and handling of flyers and invitations, posters and banners installation.
7. Making and fielding phone calls and emails.
8. Update regularly all social media and website while incrementing all social media and website views.
9. Maintain and grow our digital database and help with the production of weekly newsletters.
10. Contact the city’s largest organisations and their art clubs and associations and invite them to the fair.
11. Maintaining and follow up RSVP List and event promotion
12. Manage advertisements and editorials in an extended list of national and local newspapers, magazines, periodicals.
Person specification
1. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in working in communication, an interest in contemporary visual arts.
2. Excellent verbal and written English language communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and comfortably with a wide range of people from in-house staff to high-level collectors and gallerists.
3. Capacity to improvise/interact spontaneously with visitors.
4. Ability to take initiative and provide excellent customer service.
5. Initiative when trusted with sorting out complicated or flexible situations and arrangements.
6. Bachelor’s Degree or coursework in Marketing, Art Education or related field preferred.
7. Museum, art fair or gallery experience preferred (not a key requirement).
8. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, detail oriented, and efficient in a fast paced environment.
9. Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite. Mailchimp, Wordpres and, PhotoShop skills recommended.
