About the role

Ensuring each of the seven independent hospitals across the country is a welcoming and safe environment for patients and staff alike is no small task. Small wonder, then, that we’re placing so much importance on finding a talented Head of Maintenance who shares our determination to create a high quality, fully operative hospital.

Your responsibilities will be many and varied, covering maintenance tasks inside the hospital and its gardens and grounds. Toolbox at the ready, you’ll turn your hand to whatever needs doing. That could mean fixing a leaky tap one minute, then pruning a shrub the next. Ready to work alone or as the leader of a team, you’ll report to the General Manager, and will recommend where annual budgets can be best spent, and liaise with contractors to tackle jobs that fall outside your areas of expertise.

The well-being of our patients will be your number one priority. As a result, as Head of Maintenance you will carry out your work with sensitivity to their needs. Resilience and trustworthiness will be traits you possess in abundance, together with a flexible attitude to the hours you work. After all, who knows when a pipe might burst or an electrical appliance malfunction? In fact, it’s the unpredictable nature of the job that you’ll find most appealing.

Hands-on experience of property maintenance is essential, together with GCSEs in Maths and English and IT literacy. You should have at least one trade skill, but ideally experience of a wide range of maintenance tasks. A full UK driving license is also essential.
