Morton Gamble Gardens Ltd is looking for experienced and competent Garden/Grounds Maintenance Operatives to work with us from July - October, with the high possibility of more work after this time. We are looking for staff ranging from entry level gardeners through to skilled and experienced gardening professionals.

Successful applicants will be required to work an agreed and set number of days (between 2 and 5 (depending on your availability)) every week from July to October, with the potential for additional ad hoc days depending on your availability.

About the role

Grounds maintenance work; working in a small and friendly team carrying out tasks such as lawn mowing, hedge trimming, tidying up and planting.

Sites range from large prestigious homes through to student halls right across Greater London. Please note you don't have to be located near our HQ in East London for this role as we have sites all over Greater London.

Job requirements

You will need to be physically fit, able to work safely under your own initiative, a good timekeeper, highly dependable and enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions. Very good communications skills and initiative are also advantageous qualities for the role and will be required.

Essential knowledge includes the safe use of garden petrol machinery or the willingness to taking the learning of such seriously.

Wider knowledge of the sector would also be beneficial including: plants, planting and pruning and health and safety awareness. Spraying certification and any other gardening qualifications would also be advantageous.

Being fluent in English is a must; a clean driving license would be a benefit (for future full time and twelve months a year team leader positions which often arise), but not essential at all.

Job details

Two to five days of work per week (the same days must be worked each week), July to the end of October. Ad hoc days after this period through winter.

8Am - 4pm (with half hour paid lunch).

Starting Paye salary £7.83 (depending on age) to £9 per hour (plus holiday pay), depending on experience.

The majority of work will take place in different areas of Greater London (mostly North, East and West London) and candidates must be flexible and prepared to commute to and from the different locations (at the start and end of the working day), ready to start work on site at the specified times. Lifts can be sometimes be picked up on route with team leaders/drivers.
