About the opportunity The Migrants' Rights Network's is recruiting volunteers in Barking and Dagenham as Local Migrant Leaders, who will help shape and lead The Outsider Project in the borough between now and December 2022. Migrant Leaders will work together as a team and will be supported to take positive action within Barking and Dagenham towards:- Building strong community relationships within the borough- Improving access to ESOL- Improving access to information about migrants' rights to live, work and study in the UKAbout Migrants' Rights Network Migrants’ Rights Network is an innovative UK-based NGO working and campaigning for the rights of all migrants Our work brings together migrant activists and support organisations, think tanks, academics, faith groups and public sector representatives to advocate for a rights-based approach towards migration in the UK.Launched in 2006, we have worked to create the foundations for a UK civil society movement in support of migrants, through building lobbying and campaigning, online and media work, public events and providing support to migrant community activism. We particularly promote the concerns of migrant groups creating space for them to voice their views and experiences. What are they looking for?For this opportunity, the Migrants' Rights Network is looking for volunteers who:- Live within the borough of Barking and Dagenham - Moved to the UK from overseas - Are actively involved with local community organisations, groups or projects- Are passionate about advocating for the rights of all migrants- Are passionate about building relationships between migrant and non-migrant communities- Are able to commit an average of 4 hours per week to the project (this is flexible, and may vary)If you would like to get involved in the project but were born in the UK, we would also like to hear from you feel free to respond back to this add. Practical Considerations Travel expenses will be covered by the Migrants' Rights Network for project activities. Local Migrant Leaders may have access to training opportunities through The Outsider Project. This is a fantastic opportunity to give back to the Barking and Dagenham community by supporting migrants rights, it's also a fantastic opportunity to build up your management skills, team work skills as well as organisational skills.
