Open plan Australian owned and themed bakery cafe in between Balham and Tooting is looking for an experienced baker/pastry chef. It is an award winning bakery on a lovely parade of independent shops, it is Hub of the community.
Open 7 days a week baking in front of the customers in the centre of the bakery there is a South facing terrace, a children’s play area and an Academy where we teach cake decorating classes to people from age 4 -104.
Skills:
• Must have at least 10 years experience in a bakery environment
• Know how to make sweet dough’s
• Hand moulding
• Make cakes of many styles/ flavours and textures
• Tray Bakes
• Finish layer cakes and piping
• Knowledge of Gluten free and vegan products
• Baking croissants
• Development production
• Passion for baking
• Level 2 health and safety
Work:
• Work 5 days a week including weekends ( weekends Mon and Tue)
• Must have vibrant, happy personality to be able to bake in front of customers and speak with customers
• Day work stating at 6.30am-4pm.
• Baking and finishing cakes
• Baking off croissants
• Hand making sweet dough’s
• Boiling and baking meats for panini's
• Developing new products for the bakery and wholesale
• Making tray Bakes, cookies, quiches, Pies, rolls, pizza, focaccia, layer cakes, vegan cakes and a large range of Gluten free cakes and savoury products.
• Be able to work alone and within a team.
• Be able to work in small spaces
• Must like children
• Must have bake to high quality and a good eye for detail.
• Cake decorating/sugar craft an advantage but not essential.
Candidate must be able to read and speak clear English and show passion for baking in a commercial environment.
Must be LOCAL to the South West area.
