We are looking for a responsible person – French or Spanish speaking - to be at home with our two teenagers (13 and 16), after school from Monday to Friday, and also to look after our 2 Shih-tzu dogs. As I work fulltime, the work includes all the things a parent would do if at home after school, eg walking the dogs when you arrive, being at home when the children arrive home from school, making dinner for them approximately 3-4 times a week, ironing their clothes and ensuring their school uniforms etc are ready for the next school day. The dogs need to be walked in the afternoon and evening, fed daily, and given a bath every week. You would start around 4-5pm (to be agreed), and finish between 7-9pm, depending on how much there is to do that day, after school activities and parents’ commitments. There may be the occasional evening of babysitting, which would be agreed in advance. During school holidays (August, October, December, etc), there is the opportunity to work from 12.00 to 7pm if you would like extra hours, but this is not compulsory. In fact, if you would like extra work, there is often the chance of ‘babysitting’ at weekends, or for friends locally. You must be either fluent French-speaking or fluent Spanish-speaking (both languages would be a bonus but not required!), and able to help with French or Spanish homework to a high standard.
To recap, the main duties are:
• Walking the dogs on arrival
• Cooking dinner for the children 3-4 times / week, and feeding the dogs in the evening.
• Doing children's mending and ironing as it comes up, (while the children do homework); sewing in school uniform nametapes,
• Checking school bags and reading school notes,
• Noting key school dates in the diary,
• Preparing games kit/swimming bags (etc), including kit bags for the weekend
• Keeping the children’ bedrooms tidy
• Cleaning the kitchen after you have cooked dinner, mopping the floor every day.
A key reason we would like you as our housekeeper /nanny is to speak to the children in French/Spanish at all times, to improve their understanding, vocabulary and appreciation of your culture, so you must be fluent in written and spoken French/Spanish, and able to help with homework to above GCSE standard.
Example hours: Monday to Friday, 4pm to 8pm.
Pay: £8/ hour according to the hours you do (for example, £200 for 25 hours)
Position available immediately. (Our previous nanny took a fulltime job at the beginning of the summer holidays, and due to our own travel we have not replaced the position until now).
If you are interested in this position, please email with your cv and experience. In order to gain an interview, you must:
• Have excellent written and spoken French or Spanish, and be able to speak fluently to the children in French or Spanish at all times.
• Have looked after children ‘in sole charge’ in the UK, and have references I can check from your work in the UK.
• Have a valid visa if needed.
• Have experience with dogs.
• Already be in London.
We will only be able to reply to candidates with all the above criteria. NO AGENCIES PLEASE.
We look forward to meeting you!
