Live in Carer for Special Needs Child

Posted: 30-07-2024
Place: Barnet, London

Professional couple with 2 daughters in Mill Hill East (northern line) seeks part-time, live-in, carer to look after our happy, good-natured 11 year-old special needs daughter, Charlotte.
Charlotte has severe developmental delay and is like a 2 year-old, so the carer will need lots of energy, be able to play games, trampoline, go for walks in the park, change nappies, assist with feeding (Charlotte can finger feed and use a spoon), dressing, bathing and read bedtime stories.
The hours are as follows:
DURING TERM TIME: 3.45pm - 8.15pm, Mondays to Thursdays plus 10am - 5pm on Sundays.
DURING SCHOOL HOLIDAYS: 9am - 4pm Mondays to Thursdays plus 10am to 5pm on Sundays.
Location: Leafy green part of London: Mill Hill East (northern line) and 240 bus Stops outside house.
Start date: mid-September (negotiable)
Package: £550 pcm plus pension, free accommodation, utility bills and meals whilst working.
Accommodation: large double bedroom with en-suite shower room within large family house with garden.
Role would suit someone who is studying or working part-time during term time and is therefore able to work full time during the school holidays.
We regularly take family holidays to the UK and Europe and would want the carer to join us.
The current carer (22 year-old Australian) has been with us for nearly 2 years but is returning home soon.
Previous experience with special needs children/adults is desirable. The carer should also have excellent English, strong communication skills (be able to talk to Charlotte to encourage her speech), a good sense of humour, lots of energy and common sense, be dependable and patient.
Charlotte is dropped off at home on the school bus during term time, so the carer would need to collect her off the bus, and look after her until giving her a bath/shower and putting her to bed at 8pm ish. We normally eat together as a family during the evening but sometimes the carer may need to prepare the occasional meal for Charlotte.
Occasional help may also be required in the mornings, getting Charlotte dressed and putting her on the school bus.
One evening's babysitting per week would also be expected.
We are a loving family and live in a caring home.
If you are interested, please email a CV and letter explaining why you think you would suit this post. Thank you.
