Linux Systems Engineer Needed

We now have a fantastic opportunity for a Linux Systems Engineer to join our team in London on a permanent basis.
The Linux Systems Engineer will work closely within a 3rd line team to develop systems and affect changes to ensure that high levels of uptime and customer satisfaction are maintained to the Linux and associated windows server systems.
Working across disciplines in coordination with project managers to architect, review, build and integrate systems/solutions for business projects, you'll ensure an increase in resilience and stability. As such, you will maintain City Sprint's Linux server estate in a heterogeneous environment consisting of RHEL and Windows OS and application patching.
You'll be actively involved in IT project work, ensuring delivery to target and reporting on personal targets and performance to the Senior Linux Engineer.
To be successful in this role, you'll need to be solutions focused with a flexible approach and the ability to adapt to different business needs.
Key responsibilities within the role are:

Maintain Linux server estate
OS and application patching
Security, security testing, system integrity including firewall configuration/administration.
To be actively involved in IT project work, ensuring delivery to target.
To report on personal targets and performance to the Senior Linux Engineer.
Failover testing, capacity planning, fault resolution.
LAMP, PostgreSQL, Squid, Samba and NFS, HA and LVS administration.
BASH/PHP scripting (other languages considered e.g. Java Script, C/C ++) to create small business solutions.
TCP/IP networking (VPN, Routing, VLANs, MPLS and broadband technologies)
Understanding of LDAP
VMWare (5.5) administration, maintenance and support the VMWare vSphere environment.
Monitoring - configuration of Nagios (OMD)
Support Linux based bespoke courier/consignment tracking software liaising closely with 3rd parties and suppliers.
Log calls and monitor problem queue in the Service Desk system and provide technical support, within an ITIL framework including system documentation.
Monitor problem management queue for open tickets and prioritise own workload accordingly.
Monitor personal inbox for direct customer contact and company and department news.
Ensure customers are kept updated on progress of issue and problem resolution.
Ensure daily checks and backups are performed and restore tests undertaken.
Mentor and provide peers and service desk analysts with technical support and knowledge transfer by training.
Managing on-call issues, escalating to management and 3rdparties where required.

Essential Requirements:

A mature and professional approach with flexibility around working hours.
Valid UK driving license and ability to travel to other sites on occasion.

Ancible
Centrify
Cygwin
