Our successful modern casual Japanese restaurant is expanding and we want YOU!
We are looking for reliable, dedicated chefs to assist with food prep and service at our main site in Brixton as well as service at our two new street food ventures in Brixton and Lewisham.
Duties will include the following:
- Food prep and service
- Cleaning and kitchen maintenance
- Assisting the senior kitchen team to ensure high standards are maintained from the ground up
- Running and organising a section during service
- Serving customers directly, including taking orders
You must be:
- A team player who is flexible with your hours and willing to do whatever needs to be done to keep the kitchen running smoothly
- Someone with experience working in a busy kitchen and not afraid to work long days
- Eager to learn about Japanese cookery
- Knowledgeable of basic food hygiene and safety standards (certification is a plus)
- Able to work without issue in both Brixton and Lewisham
You will be trained on the job and we will encourage you to work in various areas of the kitchen to gain experience rapidly. Staff meals will be provided along with a pint of delicious Japanese beer or juice at the end of your shift, and you will also be given a portion of the service charge. We are a good-natured but demanding team, and will provide a great opportunity to junior chefs looking to expand their experience and tackle a new challenge.
We have been named one of London's hottest restaurants by Square Meal and were recently voted the best restaurant in Brixton by readers of Eat in Brixton. Our executive chef is a Master Chef winner and Japanese cookbook author and was last year named by Time Out as one of London's hottest chefs, so this position will teach you a great deal about Japanese cuisine. We are a good-natured but demanding team, and will provide a great opportunity to chefs looking to take on new challenges in a variety of settings. We promote from within, so if you work hard and learn quickly, there is a very good chance you will be promoted to a more senior position. (One of our KPs who started last year is now running the Passe and doing the ordering.)
