Peabody has an exciting opportunity for a Leisure Services Apprentice to join our team in London. The successful applicant will join us on a part time, fixed term contract working 28 hours per week including 1 day at college and will receive a salary of £5,200-£9,360 per annum.

This is a two year apprenticeship with the salary rising from £100 per week to £180 after six months upon successful completion of the probation period. Staff will work 3 days covering a shift between the hours of 7.30am and 8pm (you may be required to work a Saturday from 8am - 4pm) and one day on their NVQ development (as the NVQ is work based this could be working in the service with a bias toward covering the units required).

If you are aged between 16-24 and you are looking to start a career within the leisure and sport industry, this is the perfect opportunity for you. We are looking for someone who is personable and who can swim, has a keen interest in leisure, has a natural talent for customer service and team work. We can offer a first taste into this exciting industry at a busy and developing leisure centre, whilst completing your Level 2 qualification in Operational Services.
Situated in central London, Peabody has a large healthy living centre which provide a comprehensive range of facilities and opportunities, including:
- Learner pools
- Sports halls
- Multi Use meeting Area
- Café Apart from a varied programme of community use, the Centres also host events.
Main Duties:
- Carry out general supervision of all Centre users to ensure at all times
- compliance with all rules and regulations of the Centre
- The health and safety of all users
- The cleanliness and tidiness of all areas of the Centre
- Supervise the activities of all users Successful candidates will be trained and enrolled on relevant courses such Swimming Teacher, Gym and Coaching courses.
Knowledge, experience and Skills required by the ideal Leisure Services Apprentice:
- Strong interest in a career within the leisure industry
- Strong swimming skills
- Ability to adapt, work under pressure and deal with emergency situations should they arise
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Effective working relationships with others
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Desirable:
- Holder of current First Aid
- Lifeguard qualifications
You do not have to have any qualifications for this role. However, people who have a degree or a NVQ L4 qualification are not eligible for this vacancy. You must be aged 16-24 to be considered for this position.
