JEWELLERY DESIGN OPPORTUNITY.
Three month design opportunity assisting jewellery Startup brand.
Enthusiastic, fashion focused and skilled designer/maker required to assist in exciting Jewellery design position.
Role;
Assistant design and bench position; contributing to trend research and concept, design and sampling on a unique and modern jewellery collection, both in studio and with support from Hatton craftsman contacts.
Coordinating and helping to ensure samples are finalised and finished to a high quality.
The business requires assistance going forward through all areas. The current opportunity offers the possibility to build, develop and showcase a new range. If candidate is a successful fit, then to be part of this project going forward with potential for freelance projects or a paid position.
The candidate will have excellent design, visual communication and technical sampling skills, but also a good knowledge of construction limitations and possibilities, materials and techniques. Must be efficient at assisting the completion of a concise collection and understanding range planning. Must have an eye for fashion and originality but also a good understanding, and desire to learn within a small business and a commercial angle.
Role will also incorporate social media updates, some photography and site editing.
The designer will work closely with director and owner towards the goal of an exciting new small collection being built and becoming Staple part of the brand, also assistance on managing sales and orders. It is a great chance to learn and experience the challenges, costs and developments of a new jewellery set up.
The designer will have the opportunity to see their work created and professionally presented and is a great portfolio opportunity.
Requirements:
-Degree level or equivalent in Jewellery design.
-Excellent bench skills, technical ability and a good knowledge of precious metals.
-Passion for 3D design and jewellery product and a trend led vision.
-Strong visual communication and fast efficient drawing skills
-Ability to create accurate specifications and work effectively with suppliers.
-Reliable, flexible and friendly
-Social media savvy.
-Basic use of design and editing software/PhotoShop.
-Previous experience in luxury or small brand preferred but not essential.
The brand;
The company is a small start up that is in the process of change and development. We are looking for people to help support and contribute creatively, to bring an individual handwriting and to help turn small current collection into a concise and evolving range. Must be self directed in order to support and contribute from concept into reality. Applicant will need determination, enthusiasm and a good eye for quality and detail, design and good business instinct.
The setup;
The studio is based in Dalston London.
It is a small shared space. Designer must be adaptable and have the potential to work both from home and in studio.
Pay and benefits:
This is a start-up, without the facilities to consider a fully paid salary at this time. The position is initially an intern opportunity to get involved in a business at development stage. A successful applicant will be considered for a paid or project based position.
