Hozah is a fully automated parking payment system, which uses number plate recognition cameras to detect when drivers enter and leave a car park, and bills drivers accurately. Not only do we make paying for parking fully automatic, we also offer a no parking fine guarantee. Imagine a world without parking fines; how awesome would that be?!
We are a self-funded, ambitious company located next to East Croydon station and are part of the Sussex Innovation Centre incubator, and as such are part of the vibrant Croydon tech scene and are surrounded by like minded businesses that support the local ecosystem.

Role Summary
You will be working directly with the founders of the business to architect and develop significant new components that will help the business fulfil its ambitious growth targets, as well as maintaining the current platform. You will be walking into an environment where the current CTO is moving to an advisory position and you will be inheriting a stable platform that is live and serving active customers.
You will also be required to liaise directly with third party vendors and car park operators to understand their systems and in some cases troubleshoot issues and design solutions to technical problems that might arise.  You will be required to think strategically and operationally to find the best solution. Over time you will be asked to build your own tech team and to explore cutting-edge technologies that will reduce errors, increase efficiency and further develop automation within the current platform.

The Candidate
This job is well suited for individuals that are seeking to move up to the next level in their careers. You will need to be methodical in your approach to development and deployment and so a candidate with a process and standards driven mindset will be preferred.
There are plenty of opportunities to grow within this business and as the company scales the skill set demanded of you will change, however initially you will be required to code and maintain the infrastructure so any candidate applying must demonstrate their ability to architect complex technical solutions and have significant hands-on development experience.
It is not necessary for you to have a degree but you will need to show a track record in software development that can showcase your capabilities and you must be able to clearly express yourself and your ideas.

4 Years + experience with developing Java / Scala / Kotlin applications (end to end)
Root cause analysis and diagnostic examinations to resolve issues.
Practical experience in design patterns
Strong grounding in OO principles
Systems analysis and design
Working in an agile team
Source Control (Git Hub, Bit Bucket)
Unit testing / test driven development
Good English communication skills
Result oriented attitude
MUST be based in the UK and able to work from the office (although working from home up to several days per week is fine)
