IT ADMINISTRATOR
Are you passionate about IT?
River Place is a large General Practitioner surgery in Islington with 10,000 patients and 23 staff. We are looking for an individual with experience in IT to develop both IT and admin systems within the practice.
This role would suit someone looking to develop into a more technical role in the Health Care sector with a genuine interest in how IT can benefit a General Practitioner practice and it’s patients.
Pay: £25,000 minimum: more with relevant experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: IT Administrator
REPORTS TO: David Currie/Practice Manager
HOURS: Full-time (37.5)
PAY: £25,000 plus (depending on experience)
Job Summary:
Working under the direct supervision of the Practice Manager to develop IT and it’s usage within the practice. To set-up and manage procedures and processes in accordance with specific Practice guidelines and protocols.
Principal tasks:
Staff Support and Training
Is the first contact for all IT support: troubleshooting issues with printers/desktops/laptops. Liaises and develops relationships with suppliers and agencies eg. EMIS web /GPIT/Doc Man/Islington CCG.
Sets up Logins for new staff etc./de-activates old staff.
Is central contact for staff password management
Develops dedicated training plans for reception, admin, and clinical teams to improve staff levels and usage of IT.
I M and T (Information Management and Technology)
Manages installation of computer software and hardware as required. Evaluating new software, systems, planning implementation and set-up.
Expands the usage of specific software (Doc Man/EMIS/Iplato) within the practice. [Specific training will be provided on all software.]
Takes responsibility for the design of the practice website and launch of social media: ensures data presented is accurate and patient friendly. Liaises with website host as necessary.
Is responsible for template management within the practice.
Develops and maintains CQC compliant IT policies and protocols.
Keeps up to date with changes in development in IMT sector, reporting issues of significance to the Practice Manager.
Income Generation Support - QOF (Quality Outcome Framework) and Enhanced Services
Develop skills in setting-up searches, audits, templates etc. To help achieve key income targets for the practice. Full training will be given.
Management of specific projects e.g.
Increases uptake of patients using online services
Manages DNAs (Did Not Attend appointment) policy for the practice
Evaluates setting-up online patient group
Visits other practices/review other practice’s usage of IT
Evaluating areas to develop paperless practice initiatives
Occasional Admin/Reception cover
Covers occasional planned absences on Reception or general admin tasks.
Health and Safety
Complies with aware of practice Health and Safety policy.
Confidentiality/Data Protection
Develops understanding of confidentiality and data protection issues.
Equality and Diversity
Complies with all practice equality and diversity policies.
Personal and Professional Development
Undertakes training and development as required for the role.
Quality
Is aware of and can help develop practice quality control procedures.
Other duties
The key tasks are not definitive and from time to time the post holder me be asked to take on other additional tasks as requested by the Practice Manager
PERSON SPEC.
Has experience of working in IT though not necessarily healthcare
Can demonstrate genuine interest and enthusiasm in IT and how it can advance our practice
Is IT literate
Has awareness of IT security and data protection issues
Has knowledge of windows/MS office
Possible Qualifications: networking/software support
Has good verbal and written communication skills
Is able to work on own using own initiative and as part of a team
Can demonstrate problem solving skills
Can demonstrate good time management skills
Good sense of humour.
