Job ref 2101 Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer Salary - GBP32,000 annum Location - East Central London The Company This a niche Building Services consultancy that provides Building Services design for clients based in numerous parts of the world. They have been established for over 20 years and work out of modern, vibrant offices in East London. Their current portfolio includes the design Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEP) of Building Services to High-End hotels at Heathrow, new and refurbishment of Commercial office space in The City and Canary Wharf, together industrial and pharmaceutical project outside of London. And that international work as well! They use all the latest design tools including BIM, CAD and Thermal modelling and actively encourage personal CPD.The Role You will be reporting to Director and Principal levels and you will work on a wide variety of mechanical service services, duties are summarised, but not restricted to, as follows:* Accompany Senior colleagues to Client and Design team external meetings* Ventilation Systems Design - involving duct sizing, both manually and through the use of Hevacomp, grille selection, co-ordination exercises.* Water Services Design - involving pipe sizing using both manual and computer aided methods, pipe routing, detailing schematics* Heating Systems Design - radiator sizing and pipe sizing, heating pipes routing, radiant panel sizing* Air Conditioning/VRF Design - fan coil and external condenser sizing and selection, refrigerant pipework and condensate routing* Thermal Modelling - using IES extensively for thermal modelling, calculating heating loads, cooling loads, performing overheating and natural ventilation calculations, Building Regulations Section 6 and Part L compliance calculations and reports.* Drainage Design* knowledge of 2d AutoCAD use within an MEP Building Services environment. Qualifications Our client is looking for previous demonstrable knowledge of Mechanical Building Services design. Relevant mechanical engineering qualifications - Degree or HND, HNC would be an advantage.
