Hours Grocery Team Member for our Camden Store

SUMMARY:
A Grocery Team Member works as part of the Grocery team both on the shop floor (serving and assisting customers, assisting with special orders and stacking products on the shelves) and in the back stock area (receiving deliveries and organising the stock.
You will maintain a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service as well as supporting the Grocery Team Leader and Regional Coordinator in maintaining regional standards.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Receives, unloads, and puts away product delivery. Prepares Grocery products for the floor displays and Grocery cases.
2. Check invoices and create credit notes.
3. Ensures a fresh and appealing case by checking codes, rotating products, and removing old, damaged, or out-of-date products. Keep a record of these (record wastage). This also includes making sure the department maintains the company standards of cleanliness.
4. Takes a proactive approach to learning about the products (and processes) that we sell to become more knowledgeable and capable in assisting customers
5. Maintains correct department signage and pricing.
6. Occasionally places orders.
7. Answers customer questions, and practices suggestive selling.
8. Take customers special orders. Contact customer once the product has been received.
9. Assists with sampling program, keeping sample areas full, clean, and appealing.
10. Follows and complies with all applicable health and safety procedures and adheres to safe work practices.
11. Operates all Grocery equipment in a safe and proper manner.
12. Answers department telephone calls and pages quickly and with excellent phone etiquette.
13. Communicate any issue to leadership.
14. Use a communication log.
15. Maintain and organize a tidy and clean back stock area
16. Performs other duties as assigned by the Store Leadership and Grocery Leadership.
INTELLECTUAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Ability to follow instructions and established procedures.
2. Knowledgeably communicate the product line to the customer.
3. Good communications skills
4. Ability to understand customers’ needs.
5. Ability to perform simple math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
6. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with other Team Members and leadership.
7. Ability to understand and complete departmental transfers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Must be able to work up to a maximum of 8-10 hours per day.
2. Stand and walk for extended periods of time up to 4 hours without a break.
3. Bend and stoop to grasp objects and climb ladders.
4. Bend and lift loads, acceptable for the requirements of the position, unassisted.
5. Push and pull trolleys, acceptable for the requirements of the position, unassisted.
6. Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness and to check signage and labeling for accurate pricing.
7. Demonstrated proficiency in the proper use of a compactor, baler, box cutters, and all related equipment.
Work Environment
1. Environmental exposure: temperature extremes (coolers, freezer, outdoors)
2. Work in a moderately noisy environment.
3. Work on a variety of floor surfaces including tile and concrete.
