SUMMARY:
A Customer Service Team Member will enhance a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly and efficient customer service. You will be knowledgeable of all functions of the register system and all Whole Foods Market cash handling procedures and regulations. Identifies and rings up all products correctly. Supports Team Leader to maintain regional standards in addition to this role.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provides excellent customer service; greets each customer with friendly eye contact and individually thanks them for their business.
2. Able to identify products by sight; knows all PLU codes, particularly for Produce items.
3. Able to efficiently operate the register system and can perform all duties related to it.
4. Responds promptly to customer needs and questions and requests assistance when necessary.
5. Accurately collects payment in all forms (cash, debit, credit and gift card) from customer for products and makes the necessary correct change. Including the redemption of coupons from customers.
6. Counts money in cash drawer at beginning and end of each work shift.
7. Weigh items as necessary; uses electronic scanner to record price, whenever possible.
8. Carefully bags groceries.
9. Cleans register and belts throughout shift; changes journal tapes and ribbons as necessary. This includes making sure the department maintains the company standards of cleanliness.
10. Complies with all applicable health and safety and Food Safety regulations.
11. Responds promptly to customer needs and questions and requests assistance when necessary.
12. Performs other duties throughout the store as assigned by the Store Leadership, Customer Service leadership and supervisors
13. Collect and clean trolleys and baskets on a regular basis
14. You will required to cover cashiering on the main tills and on the coffee /Juice bar (Please bear in mind if you are working on the Coffee / Juice Bar you will be required to protective clothing as outlined in the food safety policy)
INTELLECTUAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Ability to follow instructions and established procedures.
2. Knowledgeably communicate the product line to the customer.
3. Ability to understand customers’ needs.
4. Ability to perform simple math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
5. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with other Team Members and leadership.
6. A good basic understanding of computer skills desirable.
7. Ability to understand and complete departmental transfers.
8. Knowledgeably communicate the product line to the customer.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Must be able to work up to a maximum of 8-10 hours per day.
2. Stand and walk for extended periods of time up to 4 hours without a break.
3. Bend and stoop to grasp objects and climb ladders.
4. Bend and lift loads, acceptable for the requirements of the position, unassisted.
5. Push and pull trolleys, acceptable for the requirements of the position, unassisted.
6. Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness and to check signage and labeling for accurate pricing.
7. Demonstrated proficiency in the proper use of a compactor, baler, box cutters / knives, and all related equipment.
Work Environment
1. Environmental exposure: temperature extremes (coolers, freezer, ovens, outdoors)
2. Work in a moderately noisy environment.
3. Work on a variety of floor surfaces including tile and concrete.

2. Effectively utilizes shrink control procedures.
3. Provide ideas and suggestions that contribute to the growth of the team.
