Job Title: Hotel Linen and Luggage Porter
We are looking for an experienced Head Housekeeper to manage our team in our charming, modern bed and breakfast, less than a minute’s walk away from King’s Cross and St Pancras stations.
The Role:
As a Linen/Luggage Porter you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient functioning of the Linen Room and the highest standards of service to ensure all staff have necessary equipment and items required to do the job as requested by the guests, Supervisors and Room Attendants.
Key Responsibilities Include:
• Manage daily deliveries of linen. Receive linen, separate to linen cupboards.
• Remove dirty linen and pack for collection
• Linen stock takes, highlight missing items, separate rejects.
• Assisting other properties with deliveries of clean linen to all floors and collecting dirty linen in the afternoon in the absence of a linen porter.
• Assisting other properties when required with any linen or Housekeeping related issues.
• Assist with monthly cleaning projects both inside and outside of the buildings including spring cleaning, deep cleaning and high cleaning.
• Assist FOH with luggage
• Ensure all corridors are free from obstructions including bags, hoovers, rubbish bags and linen – in particular the corridor that you are working within.
• Keep corridors, stairways, public and working areas clean, tidy and presentable at all times.
• Report and log any maintenance defects found in rooms and public areas to the Head Housekeeper or Team Leader
• Ensure that all guest requests are met in a polite and efficient manner and followed up and communicated to reception or a senior team member when required.
• If required, be familiar with the items offered in the minibar and snack tray and ensure group standards are met in terms of presentation and procedure
• Be fully familiar with all the amenities available to guests such as baby cots, extra beds, kettles, iron and iron boards etc. Report to Reception should they be requested by a guest.
• Perform duties effectively and efficiently to the highest possible standards at all times.
• Cleaning and maintaining all areas of the Hotel as well as back of house.
• Cleaning rooms when needed.
• You will work as part of a team and make sure that an enjoyable environment is maintained.
• Adhere to the SPHG Health and Safety and duty of care procedures to all areas within your department.
• Maintain high standards of personal presentation and hygiene in line with the company dress code.
• To carry out any other duties as may be required by your line manager.
Knowledge, Skills, experience and Qualifications:
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a hotel.
• 1 year of working as a Linen and Luggage porter.
• Reliable and dependable in performing duties
• Customer Service centric
• The desire to succeed, through drive and commitment to high levels of customer service, and product and service offerings
• The ability to communicate effectively and persuasively at all levels
• A good team ethos is important, along with the ability to support team members and colleagues
