We are currently recruiting Hospital porters to work in busy Hospital in Camberwell.
For this role you need to have a genuine interest in helping people in emergency situations. Porters are naturally empathetic towards people and remain professional at all times. To do this job you’ll need to be emotionally resilient as you may need to deal with upsetting circumstances.
You’ll need to have a clear communication style and be able to provide reassurance to patients as well as their friends and relatives. Porters also have good listening skills and are able to follow instructions given by doctors and nurses.
As a porter at the NHS you will:
- Move injured and often very ill or frail patients between hospital wards
- Lift, carry and transport complex and valuable equipment between departments so doctors and surgeons can carry out their operations and procedures in time
- Deliver emergency drugs to the right wards
- Work alongside other support workers like operating department practitioners, maternal support workers and dental nurses.
