We are looking for a home based part time volunteer social media officer and blogger to join our team here at The Third Word Press.
We are a new initiative, currently undertaking our pilot project: to produce mini books of flash fiction that are sold online through the authors' networks, which subsidises the distribution of copies to the homeless, for them to sell on the streets of the UK, similar to the Big Issue but with structural differences. We collect the content through a fortnightly competition, and the response has been great so far, we have enough entries for the first four volumes (with eighty works featured in each book).
We are looking for a part time social media officer and blogger, working flexi time and home based, so it could easily fit around other work or studying, to maintain our facebook and twitter accounts - and any other platforms that we decide to develop. This would involve following the homeless sector, and retweeting/posting about relevant current affairs, as well as developments of our initiative, recent winning entries, and our authors. The blogging part of the position refers mainly to conducting written interviews with our published authors - to make a new page on the website, with their writing tips, inspirations, etc.
It would be best if the work could be spread throughout the week, to provide a consistent presence, with something like: 3 hours a week spent on social media (or 9 tweets and 9 facebook posts a week), 1 hour a week spent on blogging (1 blog a week/fortnight). Weekly Skype meetings should last about half an hour.
We are looking for someone with the time to commit those hours, IT literate, with a passion for literature and/or the third sector.
As it is a voluntary position, we cannot offer much in return, except good humour and references.
Please apply with a covering letter, CV, three sample tweets about three of our winning entries (which you can view on our website) and an indication of the working hours you would be available to work. No previous experience required.
Please contact us if you have any queries.
There is no deadline to fill this role, and will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.
