Peabody has an exciting opportunity for a Head of Design and Technical to join our team in London. You will join us on a full time, fixed term basis and will receive a salary of £75,000 - £85,000 per annum.
Peabody is expanding its development programme to deliver over 10,000 homes starting onsite by 2021. We are now consolidating design and technical support across our development and sales programme. Currently our design and quality team comprises 3 Architects and 2 Co-ordinators. We want to expand the capability to bring a wider technical and contract focus.
The Head of Design and Technical role:
As Head of the Design and Technical team, we are looking for an exceptional candidate with a demonstrable track record in identifying and deploying innovative thinking across technical disciplines. This role is a critical component in assisting Peabody in laying the strong foundations needed across design and procurement to ensure that our ambitious Development Strategy is controlled, achievable and successful.
Please note this post is a 1 year fixed term contract.
Key responsibilities as our Head of Design and Technical:
- Lead in the establishment and updating of standard procurement and construction documentation including Employer’s Requirements, tender questionnaires/invitations, KPIs, contract documentation.
- Maintain a Contractor and Consultant review process to ensure legal and funding compliance and build quality. Ensure regular monitoring across delivery and defects resolution.
- Produce and maintain the Peabody design guide to inform design and placemaking on new schemes.
- Develop a bespoke procurement strategy to underpin the emerging Peabody Design Guide, with an emphasis on innovation and quality.
- Implement, lead and monitor an internal design review process to ensure consistent standards of design quality are achieved on all schemes, including controlled sign-offs at key RIBA stages.
Skills/experience required by the Head of Design and Technical:
- Professional qualification such as RICS, MCIOB, ARB or equivalent.
- Proven experience in the housing or construction sector.
