About us: The GT Scholars Programme is a not-for-profit social enterprise that tackles educational inequality and improves social mobility. We aim to improve the academic attainment and career potential of young people, regardless of their background.
What do we do? We run workshops, courses and a year long programme for young people aged 11-16. We’re looking for professionals who can deliver impactful workshops to build our scholar’s abilities and confidence in a range of topics.
What makes us different? There is a range of charitable organisations and social enterprises offering programs to improve the life chances of young people. However, The GT Scholars programme has the capacity to work with all state school pupils, not just those on Free School Meals. This means that we are able to help a wide range of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and scholars do not need to be referred by their school in order to qualify for support.
Responsibilities: Ambassadors are professionals that want to use their particular skill set to raise the profile of GT Scholars and support in the growth and development of GT Scholars as a social enterprise.
The ambassador role would suit someone that has experience in business development and strategy, consulting, fundraising, social investment, marketing, recruitment or public relations.
We particularly look for ambassadors that can:
-Provide advice and practical support to the founder and the team
-Assist with developing our recruitment, marketing, fundraising and public relations strategy
-Speak at external events to help attract more volunteers/parents to the programme
-Provide innovative solutions to raise the profile and the reach of GT Scholars
-Represent GT Scholars on a top-level both online and offline
-Connect GT Scholars to their wider professional network to help us reach more volunteers and young people
-Promote GT Scholars and champion the social mobility agenda
Person specification:
We’re looking for ambassadors must be:
-Proactive, passionate and committed to tackling educational inequality
-Educated to a minimum of degree level
-Be committed to the organisation’s vision and aims
-Enjoy working with a diverse team
Availability: This is a flexible volunteering role. Being an ambassador means joining our online group and being available to meet with us at events and supporting the growth of GT Scholars on an ad-hoc basis - Approximately 3-4 hours per month.
Additional information: This role does not involve working directly with young people. However, we will still need to conduct reference checks.
