A Grocery Team Member works as part of the Grocery team both on the shop floor (serving and assisting customers, assisting with special orders and stacking products on the shelves) and in the back stock area (receiving deliveries and organising the stock.
You will maintain a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service as well as supporting the Grocery Team Leader and Regional Coordinator in maintaining regional standards. You will also take on additional tasks related to orgaization, ordering, and other determined tasks.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Receives, unloads, and puts away product delivery. Prepares Grocery products for the floor displays and Grocery cases.
2. Ensures a fresh and appealing case by checking codes, rotating products, and removing old, damaged, or out-of-date products. This also includes making sure the department maintains the company standards of cleanliness.
3. Maintain the highest grocery standards pertaining to floor standards, back stock organization, and cleanliness.
4. Continually strive to learn and improve overall knowledge of grocery department.
5. Maintain an efficient and effective pace that allows for optimum time management.
6. Maintain a proactive and solution based attitude that promotes open and constructive feedback to all team members.
7. Answers customer questions, and practices suggestive selling.
8. Assists with sampling program, keeping sample areas full, clean, and appealing.
9. Follows and complies with all applicable health and safety procedures and adheres to safe work practices.
10. Operates all Grocery equipment in a safe and proper manner.
11. Answers department telephone calls and pages quickly and with excellent phone etiquette.
12. Performs other duties as assigned by the Store Leadership and Grocery Leadership.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Must be able to work up to a maximum of 8-10 hours per day.
2. Stand and walk for extended periods of time up to 4 hours without a break.
3. Bend and stoop to grasp objects and climb ladders.
4. Bend and lift loads, acceptable for the requirements of the position, unassisted.
5. Push and pull trolleys, acceptable for the requirements of the position, unassisted.
6. Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness and to check signage and labeling for accurate pricing.
7. Demonstrated proficiency in the proper use of a compactor, baler, box cutters, and all related equipment.
Work Environment
1. Environmental exposure: temperature extremes (coolers, freezer, outdoors)
2. Work in a moderately noisy environment.
3. Work on a variety of floor surfaces including tile and concrete.
