We at Antic absolutely love what we do. Proper, old fashioned, slightly reserved, but full on dedicated and committed love of the variety rather unique to these Islands, and wholly devoted to that Great British institution, the Public House. You may know the type of which we speak. The kind that gives a s**t. The kind that strives to get it right and cares deeply when it doesn’t. The kind that delights in taking a grotty tired old Boozer and putting it firmly back at the heart of the community it serves, often in areas of this great city in which others fear to tread. Since 1999 this approach has been key to our becoming a leading London Independent, but we need fine folk to help us to continue the story, and where required, to help us rewrite some of the less successful paragraphs. Independent of thought, deed and delivery, we aspire to ensure that each of our pubs is as unique as the villages and patrons that they serve, so expect oodles of autonomy, and we’ll expect great passion, competence and drive.
About the Antelope
Founded in the 1800s by Barclays, a company once known for their beer-brewing and nowadays as global financiers, the building at 76 Mitcham Road has been a mainstay for Tootingites for generations. Talk to the locals and they will regale you with tales of times past, of local characters and of life on the Broadway. Our ethos is a simple one, to maintain this community cornerstone as hospitably as we can and allow local history to continue in as rich a vein as possible.
Spread across a spacious open bar and seating area, grand dining room, lounge and garden at the rear, Antelope is very much a local’s local perfect for any social occasion.
Boasting 8 hand pumps, we serve an ever-changing selection of regional and locally sourced real Ales, as well as a thoughtful selection of the finest wines and spirits.
Open seven days a week, our kitchen serves Modern European pub fare using the freshest and locally sourced ingredients where ever possible. With a variety of smaller sharing plates and hearty mains on offer, you will never go hungry! Our Sunday roasts are a must-try!
