The Palace Gardener is looking for reliable and proactive candidates for two full time positions in our garden centre in Fulham, SW6. Successful candidates will be required to start as soon as possible and be available to work every other weekend.

Indoor General Assistant
The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include:

Liaising with suppliers to order indoor plant stock for the shop.
Maintenance and care of the indoor plant stock.
Liaising with and reporting to the head buyer in regards to the indoor container stock.
Maintenance of the indoor container stock.
Booking in of the stock into the EPoS system.

Outdoor General Assistant
The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include:​

Liaising with suppliers to order outdoor container and statues stock for the shop.
Maintenance and care of the outdoor container and statues stock.
Booking in of the stock into the EPoS system.

Both roles will also be responsible for:

Ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent sales service.
Maintaining outstanding store condition, housekeeping and visual merchandising standards.
Processing sales at the till in a polite and efficient manner.
Assisting with the processing of incoming deliveries and other general duties that the manager requires.

Essential skills and experience:

experience in a customer service role preferably in retail.
Good IT skills
Good horticultural knowledge
Happy to get Stuck in with physical work, indoors and out, in all weather conditions.
Excellent command of spoken English
Ability to work in a team following instructions of the supervisor or manager, as well as being proactive and taking initiative as an individual.
Reliable, with excellent timekeeping skills.

The Palace Gardener is based in SW6, Fulham on the junction of Fulham Palace Road and Bishop's Avenue. The centre is run as a family business by the second and third generations of the Fenwick family. The business was established by David Fenwick in the late 1930s, with several nurseries in and around Essex and it was here that they developed their knowledge and passion for outdoor plants and living. In 1984 the family launched the world-famous Chelsea Gardener which serves as a one-stop shop and online store for all gardening needs and aspirations.
